Interview to Josep Maria Capdevila, president of Exposolidos

“Each edition we try to make Exposolidos as attractive as possible and in 2026 visitors will be pleasantly surprised”

The success of Exposolidos is based on many factors, but essentially on the effort, vision and dedication of a committed Organizing Committee, which takes care of every detail to offer a benchmark fair in the technology and solid materials handling sector. At the core of this planning, the role of the president is key. Josep Maria Capdevila, founder and president of Caperva, leads Exposolidos 2025 with a combination of technical experience and strategic vision.

A Chemical Engineer from ETSEIB UPC Barcelona and MBA from IESE Universidad de Navarra, Capdevila founded Caperva in 2006 and has consolidated his career as a benchmark in business development in the fine chemicals, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors. His deep knowledge of solids handling, containment, micronization, emulsion and coating technologies makes him a key figure for the growth and evolution of the event.

His vision of the sector, the challenges and opportunities of the market and the novelties of Exposolidos 2026 are some of the points we discuss in this interview.

Mr. Capdevila, the countdown has already begun for a new edition of Exposolidos, the 12th. How has the fair evolved in recent years and what role does it play today for the solids processing industry?

Exposolidos has been gaining visitors and a reputation as a supplier of equipment, solutions and technologies related to solids handling, becoming a useful reference for searching for machinery and meeting professionals in the sector. And that is the most important thing for those of us who are working to make each edition the best.

What new challenges and opportunities have arisen for 2026 and how will they be reflected in the next edition of the show?

We are moving in an increasingly global environment. The way we market our products is changing, new digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in our promotion, so this fair must be attractive from various points of view to continue to have the trust of our visitors in person

What would you highlight, therefore, as the main strengths of this new edition that will be held on February 10, 11 and 12, 2026 at La Farga de l’Hospitalet?

It is a set of factors that make up an attractive package: a diversity of industrial suppliers with a reputation in the market, conferences that attract listeners due to their useful and innovative content and a fair format that makes the visit productive

In the previous edition, you highlighted the importance of internationalization and digitalization. Have there been significant advances in these areas? What steps do you think still need to be taken?

We are witnessing these steps. The diversity of origin, both in exhibitors and visitors, is consolidating internationalization. The efforts on the website, the presentation of the different sectors, equipment and technologies in an agile and intuitive way are going in the right direction of useful digitalisation.

Artificial Intelligence is invading all aspects of our society, and is also being progressively integrated into industrial processes. How do you think this technology will change the way solids are handled in the coming years?

The first steps are being taken in different directions. The most advanced part is that which involves data management, summaries, presentation of conclusions to help in decision-making. Regarding industrial processes, confidentiality and discretion prevent us from assessing the real progress, which is certainly taking place.

Environmental challenges and sustainability continue to be relevant points in the industry. How is Exposólidos contributing to promoting more sustainable solutions in the sector?

I am convinced that all exhibitors are committed to increasing sustainability, through improvements in process efficiency, reduction of energy consumption, reduction of waste generation and carbon footprint. Exposolidos collects and presents these technologies to advance in the current environmental challenges.

At a global level, the geopolitical context and the scarcity of raw materials have been factors of uncertainty. How is the sector facing these challenges and what impact do they have on the development of new technologies?

As a possible future threat. Currently we continue working without an additional impact to the fluctuations in prices and supplies that we have had in recent years.

More and more companies are looking to optimize their production processes to be more efficient and profitable. What are the most innovative technological trends that will mark the future of the sector?

The optimization of processes is manifested in very diverse fields: among others, we highlight an economic offer
